AD means authorized dealers. Example kah motors for Honda brand.

C class original boot mat should be around $100 plus from Stockist.

For color think still up to individual.

Some like Matt finish and some like bright red, just go for the color u like best. :)

Odessus, is this for recent purchase of C Class?

Anyway, to update all the helpful people here.

I booked my C Class. My feeling is, depending on mix of what you have and who you know, the overtrade can be higher than what I got. But my dad was super eager in the negotiations (spoil my market) lol so for a seasoned agent, I think can read that and the overtrade was very hard to move past that point. But some of the stuff I read in other places need to bargain for, my agent gave quite easily without much discussion. Retail vouchers he kept saying cannot, in the end he gave me 500 and then upped it further. At least something. My guess is retail vouchers, they can claim or maybe have certain allocation that they can use to entertain or as gifts? The retail vouchers is not written on my purchase contract. My agent said it's under him, whatever that means. When I want I can just go to the shop and tell him, he will settle it. Also an extra I appreciate is that asked my agent about boot mats, he said C&C doesn't have original? But he will get 3M one cut to fit for my boot.

What kind of nice stuff do you guys get from the retail? I only had a quick look going to the bathroom, lol saw some polo tees and car models.

Thank you all for the sharing. What does AD mean? I guess it's Cycle & Carriage, but I don't know where the AD comes from. Any guide on maintenance? I'm wanting to get the dark blue. I looked at the silver blue (called diamond silver) on the road. But it's just not striking. Is it just me or do light cars look very flat under non-showroom light? The dark cars seem to reflect more and look more glinty. Even though both are metallic paint.

No it isn't for C class and it's also not recent.

Hi all

Sorry I've been busy. But yday I went to try the C class and GLA at C&C. I used the sales agent my friend says is good. He was friendly, advise a lot but not pushy. My dad say he was entertained by him before and he's good also.

So, our current lexus got offered 40k. My dad had asked audi sales to check before last week when he saw some road show booth same price. But overtrade SE had said 7 to 8 is max. I had to leave so my dad continued talking as I have leave. Later he told me after a lot of discussion they got 10k overtrade in so total 50k. The car is 174k. I also realised our current lexus is ending next June 2017 so no matter what I need a new car.And to get the 40k trade in fixed I have to give up the car before the next birthday which is this year June. The new c 180 units only come in Aug.

3k svc credit is included (I believe this is standard). And coating, my dad did not ask if it's huber optik. We have to go this pm to give the deposit cheque so I want to ask for the extra stuff then. Back camera are all standard in the stock already.

I'm going to try to ask for 5k svc credit, make sure huber optik, ask for car essential and welcome kit. That sounds ok? I have no golf or baby haha so no need the golf bag. Anything else good to get/possible to get?

Big qn is it possible to get GPS free? I mostly use google maps on my phone to drive. Is the GPS good? Our BMW 5 I find the GPS not so good.

btw, I am thinking to get dark blue. :D

Thank you all! I hope I get a good deal.

Cindy

Cool! Let me know who. And congrats on your new C. Can I ask you what colour you got? 5k service credit that you got sounds fantastic!

My 2 cents worth. The overtrade and service credits are probably related to the price of the car u book at as well as the COE rebate level. Of cos negotiation skills do play a part, but it shd not be too far off.

So instead of losing sleep over someone else getting 1k more service credits or a incar dvr, why not just enjoy the car and at the same time consider some mods? My humble opinion

I totally agreed. We could bargain with SA over a golf bag or some GPS or car mat. But surely, this is not coming out from CnC. Is from the SA own pocket, which I find it hard to ask for it.

Just enjoy the ride and if happy, meet up for a game of golf or coffee, with fellow Merz owner here.

Sure but it doesn't come from the SA own pocket. Surely the commission and profit margin allows him to do so.

After reading this post, I spoke to 3 different sales person and I got 3 different 'packages'.  I find this disturbing.

The process should be transparent.

After all, the colour of money is the same.

Each and every other person, walking into the dealership, should get the same price and treatment, regardless of race, language and religion.

There should be no negotiation skill necessary.

For me, I will never want to have to bargain, plead, negotiate, beg, persuade to be given a dvr or retail voucher etc.

It is beneath me.  Heck, I am buying a car with my own money.  This is not Salvation Army or Thye Hua Kwan.

If the salesman gives an extra dollar to another buyer and I do not get it, I will be insulted.  Not because I am stingeing over that money but I would have felt insulted that the salesman pulled a wool over my eyes and discriminated against me.  See what I mean?  There must be fair-play.

Having said that, there really should be only 1 price.  The price of the car and the amount of CoE that it is based on.

From this price, consumers with their own CoE can deduct that CoE amount assumed by the car distributor to arrive at the prices of the cars.

Trade-ins should be separate and should not be fudged by 'over-trade'.  After all, different cars have different trade-in values for sure.

But 'over-trade' favours the car distributors such that you are 'forced' to trade-in your old car when buying new.

Whether you are trading in a broken car (but with paper value) or a car in great condition and low mileage, it is the same.  They use the scrap value at the time they estimate your new car will be registered and then add the over-trade. This is unfair and precludes you from selling your old car to your brother-in-law, for example.

But I guess most people do not think so far.

Regarding overtrade, I may be wrong, but does it also depend on the make of ur car? If u trade in a mercs u probably get better overtrade compared to say a bimmer? Of cos apple to apple comparison (ie C class and 3 series) since its some form of customer rentention or brand loyalty?

My friend wanna trade in a Ford. And the overtrade sucks, whereas my bimmer was given more becos of perceived popularity (which translate to resale-ability)

Regarding different package from different salesperson, it may come from their own pocket (for small item typically less than $500?)

Other differences could be due to how the salesperson "read" the customer. Some prefer to keep some bargaining chip in case customer ask for more and more, some prefer upfront no nonsense type.

Not exactly abt discrimination I feel. At the end of the day, humans like to feel like we get the best deal, nothing wrong. Just dun be too obsess. Car to ur liking, within ur means, got approval from significant other, then buy and enjoy. U win some. U lose some.

Bro LYH,

I disagree with you.

If everything is transparent, fixed price menu, then there is no need for the salesman to 'read' any customer.  If he has to 'read' a customer, he is already discriminating someone.  All customers pay the same and get the same.  Otherwise we will soon have to decide how to dress before we go into the showroom, so that we are read in a certain way?

If customer A paid $50 and customer B paid $55, and if 'humans like to feel . . . get the best deal', how would you feel if you were customer B?

So in the first place, if everything is transparent, none of this will happen.

So, finally, let's agree to disagree . . hahaha.

just remember that all additional discounts come out of SE's pocket. Whoever is more desperate to meet quota will give you a better deal.

I think the fluctuating COE price is more disturbing than bargaining with SE. In a blink of an eye can lose 5k-10k just like that.

such is life in Singapore...

I would think if they have ready stock to sell or incoming stock then they more willing to give better discount or higher overtrade.

If the new car waiting time is long then no point they do promo or give good discount.

From time to time, depend on the stock level they will adjust the freebies or discounts.
