W204 USB Port

Wanted to ask if I can connect a 4-port USB hub to the USB port in the box below the armrest? I'm thinking of connecting beside my USB stick with music on it and also to power a Wi-Fi stick.

The lighter outlet in front is used to power GPS and phone. Don't want to many wires running around.

Is it possible?

I believe the USB port below the arm rest is 500 mA USB 2.0 standard. It will work fine for a charging a phone. Not so sure about using a wifi stick which will go from 700mA onwards depends on its power rating.

 

So if you want to use the armrest USB for wifi stick, you can try but may not have enough power to power it. The best bet is to use the cigarette lighter port which should be at least 2A-15A depending on the fuse used.

 

Having multi splitter on lighter port is not advisable though because of the high heat generated. Maybe u can try buying a 2xUSB cigarette lighter adapter for your phone and USB Stick, and hardwire your GPS directly.

May I know which year of W204 have the USB port below the arm rest ? Can it be used to listen our own music in thumb drive ?

My ride is early 2014 W204. Should be one of the last few batches before W205.
