2015 W205 C180 skidding problem

Hi all

I'm new here and not sure if same problem was asked before.

I have collected my new C180 last week, and over the weekend I experienced vehicle skid when driving.

Background;

1) It was a dry afternoon, i.e. no rain

2) It was after car wash

3) Speed was around 50+-

4) two lanes residential road

5) Road surface with strips (it's a curve road)

I was on the left lane, when vehicle run over the strips I can feel the car moved to my right (against my turning direction) on a jagged pattern (due to the strips) by the time I'm off the strips my car is like middle of two lanes, i.e. my car has skidded half lane.

I thought it was wet tires (after wash) plus oily road surface. But I notice even when I drive over metal surface (joins)on curve express way, I do feel a slight skid as well. Dry road surface and tyres too. I have check the tyre pressure and seems ok...

I wonder anyone had the same problem or something wrong with the car. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

RWD + No Traction Control = Can result is "drifting" even when hitting strips. This is my initial guess as it seems to be the case.

Did u accidentally switched off your traction control? Am refering to the Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

Hi BabyA

Thanks for the information, I cannot find where is ESC but I found ESP and is switched on. Is it the same? or where can I find ESC?

Yes ESP is Electronic Stability Program. Same same.

U meant it is on when u had those experiences? Hmmm

Yup ESP was on :(

skidding over strips is tyre issue.  Change to a performance tyres with good dry grip and it should not happen again.

Mine skid over strip when using Michelin HP. Changed to Michelin PS3, no more skid

I suspected tyre as well but at the speed of 50, I was like "cannot be lah"......

Anyway it is original tyres = Bridgestone Turanza

Actually this morning I experienced again but this time is the rear wheel. I was on a filter lane while entering BKE, the is a manhole on the road. I was accelerating (no hard) to enter the expressway, I notice the rear wheel swayed a little. This time the road was slightly wet (after morning rain).

The thing that puzzled me was that, if tyre is the problem, then many W205 owner should experience that same as these are standard tyres.....

Bridgestone Turanza... is Ultra High Performance tyres... but i never use any tyres from this category.

Imho, bare minimum is Max Performance category.

No idea if it is tyre issue but a slight chance it is... for RWD

I'm thinking to send it back for check as well but just wanna to gather some information first. Knowing CnC will tell you lots of story as if you don't know how to drive :growl:

Will post any findings later, but meanwhile if anyone has any idea please share with me. Thanks

confirm is tyre

yesterday went imm after rain. carpark was wet and i went all the way up. to go to upper level car park, you need to do kind of u-turn 2 times at each level. i notice the front tyre skidded a little at every end of turn, at speed of 10+, and Comfort mode. if i give the car a soft acceleration, the rear drifted.

this never happened on my w204 before and it was on conti tyre. tomorrow will change tyre to PS3 as suggested by j888

will update result again
