W204 Horn

I like the sound of the Merc honk but I am the sort who rarely uses it.

Most time honking, and looking/staring at another motorist while over-taking in anger, is the source of road rage.

Car honk is "the scourge of the urban symphony".

Luckily you are not in New York City where the new Nissan taxis are fitted with 'low annoyance horns'.

One day I was visiting someone in the ward at Mt Elizabeth Hospital. In the few hours I was there, I heard a few instances of long blasts of the car horn. Granted, there is always a traffic jam caused by goods vehicles reversing into Paragon's loading bay but we are in a hospital environment. Aren't we taught in driving lessons not to honk in such locations?

I have a neighbour who, for years, would honk honk when he reaches his front gate. Then the maid scurries out to open the gate and to help him with unloading, I guess. We sent him polite notes to no avail. He is not without auto-gate nor door bell nor mobile phone. Lately he has stopped, perhaps due to old age. But now his AhBeng son does the same in his blue Honda Civic!!!

I am not admonishing you two for fitting louder horns but just taking the opportunity to spread the view that we drivers should be considerate and mindful when using the horn in anger or frustration.

By the way what note is your car horn? A vibrato flat A? Hahaha.

No offence meant to anyone.

no lar.. i am not the sort who horns often.. but just have this feeling the horn might not be loud enough to warn other road users when there is really a need to.. what A note of flat A i do not know how to explain.. lol i just feel it sounds higher pitch and softer as compared to maybe say BMW or W212

Changed my horn. To PIAA
