Check Engine Light - Fuel Pump

giggss

Recommended Posts

Check Engine Light came up.. STAR Diagnostics indicated that the fault is with the Fuel Pump.

Anyone here changed before?

Is it covered under warranty?

Is there possibility that RaceChip caused the Fuel Pump to spoil easier than stock? (so if it's under warranty , i have to remove the racechip before sending in to CnC)

I believe the fuel pump is under warranty since the warranty states "parts" and no exclusion/exemption, unless i missed it.

Better remove race chip to claim under warranty regardless if it affects the fuel pump or not.

Note:

1) In reality and especially "up-in" power output regardless of ecu remap, plug-n-play or whatever they call it... will affect the fuel pump simply because more power equates more stress and more stress, whether it’s mechanical or thermal, means more wear, regardless of specification.

2) Example - there exist "higher level" fuel pump which is functioning at 50% capacity at a certain volume output where stock is functioning near 100% capacity.

Thanks for advice.. the examples by BabyA sounds reasonable enough for CnC to void warranty in this aspect.

But workshop already cleared the message. Dunno if it will appear again.. if it doesn't, maybe CnC will just say no problem with fuel pump

shouldnt have cleared the message!

Try to remove the race chip and run the car for a few weeks...Mostly likely the error will not appear and you can conclude that the fuel pump is not detective.

I have already tried that.. removed and run for a week.. usually by about the 7th drive, if nothing is wrong, the CEL will disappear. But this time, it stayed on for very long. That's why i brought to workshop to do a STAR diagnostic and that's when it showed fuel pump faulty.

After clearing the fault for 3 days, I installed back the RaceChip.. till now it has been about a week, CEL did not reappear.

Now my concern is whether it's a false alarm in the first place.. if it's not a false alarm, the fault had been cleared.. so when I bring to C&C will they even check for me..

How come fc went down? How does it work?

FC improved under normal/usual driving condition is because all engines have optimised FC for the general public which however is still "running rich".

With piggy-bag, tuning or whatever it is called. The engine will be optimised to run lean thus FC improved.
