Hi all!

I just returned from a convoy of 40+ cars complete with police escort (we didn't stop at any traffic lights!) to Kuala Rompin organised by C&C yesterday and was wondering if there are any SG Merc members who has participated in the event as well.

It was a very exciting funfilled 3 Days-2 Nights stay at Summerset Resort.

Would like to exchange photos and contacts.

As a newbie, I look forward to any interesting B-Road drive organised by brudders and sizters here.TQ! ;)

Hello Notti,

I too went for the back to nature drive by cycle. I drove the M Class. Which car did you take? With over a 100 people joining the event, we most probably have missed to Chat.

I do remember stopping on the lights though....

You got to give it to Pit crew for handling over 40 cars in a convoy. I think they did a pretty good job. The hotel could be so much better though.

I broke convoy on the way back, for I found it too slow to run with over 40 cars in a convoy. what time did you manage to get to the shell station to return the walkies?

Hi GASTON & Notti

I too went for the Back to the Nature Drive :punk1: I drove the black SLK. GASTON, are you the one that I loan you the umbrella?

Agreed that the Pit Crew did a great job to lead such a big convoy  We only managed to reach the petrol station at about 6pm++ as there is some confusion towards the last 45mins drive when we are heading into a small town w heavy traffic.

We always insist on having a walkie for our B-road drive and encourage members who join our other drive to get one too.

Hi Ghaston,

I remembered, you went with your wife and daughter. I drove in a blue B class. Only the place of interests and convoy to lunches/dinners has no police escort as those are pretty near where we stayed and therefore considered safe. But other than that, all of us felt what foreign head of state feels like (feedback from most of the participants) :P I remembered covoy #2 has problems catching up and they have to stop at traffic light a couple of times though.

Yah, I saw you broke the convoy after lunch and the first thing we thought was you are travelling to another state :) For the rest of us, the convoy experience reminded some of us of military movement order. Some imprefections spice up the trip. otherwise it will be another city driving that we have in spore :)

Are you guys local?

Hello Titan,

Yes indeed. that's me. Very much appreciated. I hope I didn't get you soaked by taking your umbrella though. I spoke to you about your boot space right? Are you going for the B road drive on the 20th and the D and D on the evening of the same day? I signed up for the D and D, hope to catch up with you guys there again.

there is also a wine tasting session H20 is organizing for the 12th. I may try to make it on that one too. If I'm not mistaken there are still slots available on that. Please check the latest announcement section.

Past 6? am I glad I took off. :3some:

got a chance to push the M Class on the B road.

Hi Cklasse,

We had walkies on the convoy. It was the vertex from Nick. So we had decent radios on the trip. The problem was having one, on occassion two lead car, running a 40+ convoy on the same channel. I forgot to take note, but I think the convoy would have been as long as 500 meters! IMO, they should have broken down the convoy into smaller groups of 7 or 8 and used different channels for each convoy but the obvious lack of leaders and sweepers would have made it impossible to do that. For all its worth, they did a good job handling that many cars and everyone reached home safe. That's the most important thing.

Cheers!

Hello Notti,

Yes, that's us. I guess it was easy to identify us for we were only 1 of 2 ML's in the whole convoy. You must have been in front of the convoy coming up from Singapore so you were close to the patrol car. I was always at the tail end of the convoy so, we had to stop at some junctions. Did we get the chance to sit together in a table during the trip?

Yeah, I broke convoy because I wanted to speed up. Had a dinner party to rush home too. ;D This was the second time I rode with Pit Crew so they expected us to break convoy anyways. They actually expected us to break convoy as early as coming up to the destinationas soon as they mentioned the speed limit. ;D I wonder what they were thinking. :bboyspin:

Nope, we are not....

As mentioned above to Titan, I will be in the D and D and most likely be at the wine tasting by H20 on the 12th. It would be great to catch up with you sometime soon.

cheers!

hey gaston, you can go back to nick and ask him to tune your walkie to receive the sgmerc frequency.. it'll be easier next time should you decide to join sgmerc for a drive...

Hi Wu,

doesn't it work with our radios? we got some 12 channels programmed on it was hoping SGMERC channel was one of them. Have you tried it on your walkie? will check with Nick if SGMERC freq is on my radio already. Thanks for the advise.

Cheers!

Hi Gaston

Wow, are you working late? still writing threads as almost 2am!? Yes, I reckon you are in the last of the few cars in convoy #2. I was driving behind car #43 (the other M Class) but have to maintain a safe distance because of it's height even though the marshalls asked us to keep the convoy " tight " :P

This is the 2nd time you are with PitCrew? Is your first organised by C&C as well?

No, we didn't manage to share tables cos most of the time we are "booked" by Titan :P and the 70 something yrs old couple (Mr & Mrs Ong) with the s class

I will be in KL on D&D and would catch up to extend our friendship in merc alumni :)

Hi GASTON,

Don't mention about the umbrella, you have your little girl w you and keeping her dry is important . Unfortunately will have to miss the up-coming events, will be away on the 16th-22nd of Dec, nonetheless we will catchup soon.

In the convoy, by chance am always either behind a M class :tongue1: or a S class so have to keep the distance and not able to close up the gap and seeing the road ahead is ..... :2guns: After the whole trip, the car drives and feels different... Everything seems to be smooth and good, perhaps its finally properly run it :punk1:.
