Wind Noise Above 70-80km/hr

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm experiencing annoying windnoise from both sides B pillars when travelling > 70-80km/hr. Brought to Chip Soon and test drove it for a few days and they suspected that the door seals were worn and not glued back properly thus not giving a tight seal. They suggested to order the original seals at 165 per door excluding labour and do only for one side first but i find it too ex for troubleshooting.

Any cheaper alternatives? Thanks

Bro Malas, you can buy similar kind of seal from Autobacs, then put it below your original seal and then hear the difference. It should help.

The cost should be about S$100 max.

Spoon feeding teaches you nothing....but the shape of the spoon...

Thanks bro for the reply. Yup went to autobacs and did that. Was looking for 3M brand but they did not have it. Only some Jap brand. Guess what? It actually works! And I only applied to the portion between the front and rear door for both sides where the source seemed to be coming from. Saved me a couple hundreds!!!

laughing 哥,you will have to send back and got to make sure that you are able to replicate the noise when you drive....they will probably try to tell you...

1) cannot hear the noise

2) its normal

3) wear & tear issue

Spoon feeding teaches you nothing....but the shape of the spoon...

Happened to mine too. Car only 6 months old

This type can bring back cnc?

Yea but your's only 6 mths old. Bring it back to CnC but the troubleshooting can be time consuming and frustrating as they need to pinpoint the area of leakage. Most probably they would install new door weather seals. Mine is 5 yrs old and I'm so used to the dead silence of the cabin and found the slight wind buffeting extremely annoying even with the radio on. If it's out of warranty, diy the seals yourself very cheap because the stock door seals plus installation cost an arm and leg.door seals overtime the rubber will lose their compressibility and hence effectiveness in blocking out wind/ water 100%.

interesting thing to note is I tried to fold the side mirrors and the wind noise dimiished significantly. Not so aero la the design as claimed by many merc w204 owners from other forums.
