Feedback on Tyres

I am replacing my rear tyres soon.

My car came with Continental tyres and I have recently replaced the front with Continental ContiSportsContact5 225/45 x 17.

I am now looking at Continental ContiSportsContact5 245/40 x 17 for the rear.

Stamford quoted me $485 each apparently promo price.

Tyrepac had 2 prices, old stock $256 and new stock (I think was) $365.

I am now considering other brands like Michelin Pilot Sport 3  (Tyrepac $230)

Or Dunlop Direzza ZII or Sport Maxx TT (unsure of the prices)

Looking for feedback on n, wet grip and thirdly wear rate.

Thanks!

Few years ago, I was about to replace this car so I fitted cheap and cheerful Federal Tyres.

Wow, sidewalls were so soft! I have to pump up to 38 psi!

But I must say that the rear wear rate was good. 3 years 40'000 km! Beat that!  :)

However the front had sidewall cracks after 2 years 20'000+ km

Conclusion: they are not suitable for heavy cars like Merc.

My W203 comes standard with 225/45 x 17 on the front axle and 245/40 x 17 on the rear.

Forget the Dunlop Direzza ZII.  I read that it is more for the tracks.

Oh I thought you are swapping 225 for 245. W203 staggered setup is 8.5j for rears, so 245 is alright.

I have tried Eagle F1A2, Michelin PSS and CSC5p, my butt feel as follows:

Price(cheap to ex) : F1A2, CSC5p, PSS

Wet (good to ok) : F1A2, CSC5P, PSS

Dry: PSS slight edge, F1A2 and CSC5P similar

Noise (silent to noisy): CSC5P, PSS, F1A2

Yet to try PS3 but I heard its similar to CSC5P

It will be cheaper to get from tyre shops outside, rather than bigger shops

Called Leong Seng

CSC5 $285

Yokohama Advan 103 $280

Bridgestone 002  $240 (if I recall correctly)

I think I shall narrow down to the familiar CSC5 or try the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric V1

Thanks for the feedback.

Michelin PSS FTW!!! When it's dry, you'll find out that it's money well spent.

No one likes P Zeros?

P Zero burns faster than PSS..... Very good but very Ex....

I'm prepared to meet my Maker...
