Knocking sound when going over uneven road/bumps/mini humps..

Hi people..

Just got my car serviced by CnC again at 30k..

They changed my caster arm on the right as I was complaining about a knocking sound when reversing and turning the steering wheel..Now that issue is fixed but...now whenever I go over uneven roads..eg. small bumps/ uneven road/ road patches..i get a distinct and fast knock sound from the under carriage...Im very sure this quick thud/knock sound comes only when the front right wheel goes over at above 60km/h..sometimes if im lucky the sound can be heard at very low speed when the road is bricked or its very uneven..

I went back to CnC and they told me they cannot replicate it(nothing new)..

What could it be?

Giggss...I think our car need a thorough check liao....seems like the problem you have I also have....sigh.......

The turning sound problem appear immediately after my 30k servicing with C&C!!

Battery problem or powersaver problem which we mentioning in the other thread.. i have yet to confirm what is wrong.. maybe really battery getting weak.

Drop C&C servicing. Their standard have dropped a lot. Maybe due to more new merc owners

ya.. see above.. :(

TS why don't you sit in to test drive with foreman to show them the sound.

Because when service adviser relate it to foreman, communication is not so clear.

U remember those party games that the first person listen to a sentence and passed on to the next person, after 5 or 6 passing, the message get distorted.

Gukkie, I will always tell them I will talk to the mechanic myself....and also drive the mech to "hear" the problem.....

When the mech test drive your car, they usually on lalio and AC...so always cannot hear what we heard....so when I drive them...I off everything...only can hear the engine sound..... :D :D :D

Insist on this and they cannot turn you down....but you must be prepared to stay there long lar......

Spoon feeding teaches you nothing....but the shape of the spoon...

Bro Gukkie, I also recently experienced the similar knocking sound you mentioned after 60k servicing especially reversing on uneven concrete open carpark! May i know which service centre & advisor you look for? Maybe i can file a similar complaint with him, thanks!

I had my front left castor arm changed twice. Once about 12K and the other time about 48-50K. It was a pain going through with them especially when it occured the 2nd time. Told them its the castor arm problem and keep saying must check. In the end, changed the castor arm after almost 1-2 mths of ding-dong here and there.

Bro Will04, is your problem solved after changing the castor arm? Will definitely ask them to check my castor arm 1st, thanks!

Bro....yes the problem is solved after changing the castor arm. They might try to tell you they will tighten some bolts in the undercarriage first, but seriously, this did not work for me until the castor arm was changed.

Mine mileage 23k also got same problem.change castor and shock absorber problem still exist.problem was solve after lubricate and replace ball bearing. It took me 3 visit to solve and the SA very knn....all sort of excuse....car in Germany no such problem only in SG because SG road too many hole and hump, intermittent fault not going to fix.Like some bro say it true must bang table with them. Now car still in Cnc cause 1 problem solve and they create other problems. All bro take note of the brochure that was given during car collection.....show it to them it state.. Your warranty may become invalid if you continue to drive when a fault become apparent.

I realised some SA's/Sales reasoning can be quite wow! Previously when my wipers were juddering, comment was 'the car is meant to go fast in Germany so that the downhill force will push the wipers down and thus the juddering will not occur at high speeds.....'. I was skeptical cos even at high speeds on NSH, the wipers still juddered, unless of cos they are saying to go at constant speed of 200km/h then i rest my case :P

The most knn "reason"....car made in Germany, thus in Asia climate, somethings are bound to be like that....

This I heard from PML...when I went with my bro to bang table......this was from a "manager" on 535......

Really kiam kan.....

lol......hahahahahaha
