C Klass Battery Change

I disagree.   "To be on the safe side", go to Mustafa and buy a cheap jumper cable and keep inside your car.  :)

I changed my first battery when my car was almost 4 years old.  The battery lasted another 3.5 years!

Never buy a cheap jump start cable, when you needed it, it can't help you start. Buy those at least 500 amp type.

Just to clarify, what I meant is not to simply replace your battery just because it is 2 years old. To me, that might be a waste of money. Keep a simple jumper cable in the car so that, if you are stranded, you can seek help from a friendly motorist.

Then if the battery acts up again, I guess it is time to replace it.

Whether it should be a minimum rating of 500A or more or less, I think it is academic because much also depends on what car you are trying to jump-start, the length of the cable, the insulation, the quality of the copper cable, the quality of the clamp etc etc (if you want to get too analytical about it). If it is apparent that the current may not be enough, the trick is to hook the batteries up, wait for a minute or two to partially charge up the dead battery and then try to start. For me, if the car would not start after a burst of 2 or 3 seconds, I would stop the cranking in case the cables get heated up.

You can buy a very heavy-duty jumper cable but that would be bulky. One needs to strike a balance. It is just an emergency measure to get you to the workshop.

A wise man once told me to forget about jumper cables..... Just go and get a portable battery charger.... And after being stranded in Changi Airport in the wee hour with a dead battery.... With a set of cables but no one to help u.... I strongly agree.....

I tried before, putting a portable charger in the car. Heavy and bulky (those big big model at that time), when I need to use it, it was flat  ..  I believe nowadays got smaller ones. Power bank?

My last post here in mid June, suspecting battery weakened. Today it dead.. Can only hear cranking for split second. Jump started it.. Went to workshop to check, but the voltage is normal. Had also done servicing at cnc 2 weeks ago, they didn't advise battery needs to be changed.. Any bro know what the problem?

Old-man Have you got yours checked?

Having battery checked this week doesn't mean it will not go flat the following week. I leant my lesson well battery went flat just a week after servicing. Rule is to have battery replaced at least once every 2 years to be safe.

Hi Guys,

I think it's high time for me to do a battery change, can anyone reccomend me a place to get it changed?

I've read some threads on those mobile guys, those contacts would be much appreciated as well!

Also, my ride is a Pre-FL W204 C200K, does anyone know which battery i require or what i should look out for when changing batteries? E.g. Voltage, brand etc?

Thanks!

Changed mine - Bosch DIN 74 at Arrow Tyres - $180

C180 - 2010
