hi hi hi all, am not really a newbie already. Joined the forum 4 months ago in July when I got my car, but wasn't very active.

Anyway I am driving a dark grey C200 Kompressor. Is that what you call a W204? Why call it that?

Got mine at S$137800, think OMV was $42k and COE paid $1.5k less than actual coz the PI missed the bid and so offered me their on hand COE for $1.5k less (which is lesser than that week's bid).

This was from a PI after visiting C&C and PML for test drive on C200 and 320i, because the C&C sales exec was like not very friendly and 320i looks a bit old on the inside. Got the feeling of not a valued customer since these are not exactly the top model in these places. Thus went for PI, which was wife's ex-colleague's friend's friend :thumbsup:

The PI experience is that, make sure all the specs tally and are agreed on beforehand. Things like reverse sensor (not parktronic), foldable side mirrors, CD-changer, rain sensor, leather seat, memory seats can vary according to the batch, and even the PI may not be able to tell in advance. They basically call some master importer to chope the car when they secure a sale, so no idea what specs it comes with.

In the end, I got everything except for rain sensor - which the PI originally said have, but later say "I thought you mean that knob where you can adjust the wiper speed according to the rain". I had to go down a few times to proof to them that there isn't any rain sensor, which I thought was very important in Singapore context. Anyway, decided to not pursue this further with them to keep a cordial relationship, me being running my own business also, so give and take lah.

CD-changer had to go down and install as it came with one disc only. Now it's 6 disc changer FOC.

My seat is leather with cloth in the center - PI claim supposedly the AMG version but I have no idea what it means. Anyway it's quite nice. Originally wanted to change to full leather as the PI can do for free. But then decided against it as it will be done in SG and I don't really trust the factory here and not sure if it's genuine MB.

Another issue was the back car plate, which the PI used a 2-row version. Unfortunately the C200 doesn't have the screw holes for this type, and what the PI did was to use double sided tape to stick, which came off within one week, so there's a rattle sound everytime I shut the boot. Again decided to settle this issue myself by paying $20 for a new 1-row plate.

Eventually the relationship with the PI got better after they changed the sales exec servicing me, and my wife's ex-colleague's friend's friend got fired. Hope was not because of me

So far have being enjoyable, except for a ESP Inoperative message, and got a small dent already :banghead: Must be some lorry door slamed very very hard, said my PI's paint workshop lady (a very nice lady)

Last car was a renault megane, which got flooded INSIDE the car because leaves clogged up some drainage system within 6 months. The AD, then Exclusiv, says don't park under trees lor... haiz... so beared with it for 3.5 years of continuous flooding whenever it rains too heavy, before changing to this car. hope it doesn't happen again.

we call the c class that was manufactured after 2007 the w204(s) cuz that is the body name given to them, like other makes eg bmw 5 series called the E60, its easier to identify them that way, instead of saying its a c class from 2000-2007, we just say its a w203. for our benz classification, you can check the list of models here - http://sgmerc.com/forum/index.php?topic=12.0

i see you've done some minor "touch ups" on your own, for someone who hasn't purchased through PI yet, i'll leave it to the rest to give you their opinions on their experiences...

and yea, our local AD for benz, some of the staff there half past six one... some more can call it first class for cars... cars first class, humans 2nd class??? i remember one day going down with one of our member... after both of us spent more than $1,000,000 (million) worth of $ thru c&c buying their benz over the last 10 years, can kena "chase" away by the security guard... you tell me, does that warrant our change to PI???

but on the other side, there are some really good sales exec from c&c, thats how i got mine. some of the SE will give u free stuff out of goodwill, etc. other members really feel like they're buying a benz, so search ard the forum, and you'll soon know who to go to...

Don't sweat it about the rain sensors man, they don't work very well anyway, sometimes they set wiper speed on max during a drizzle but set the speed to the slowest during heavy rain. AMG seats mean the sport seats by Mercedes' performance division I think.

Haha anyway, go down to the meetup! You'll learn lots of stuff from our knowledgeable uncles and see lots of cool cars!

And thanks sillywilly for the info... I didn't "touch up" the car if you mean the painting. I was worried there will be rusting on the dent because it looked like the paint was chipped off, but the paint lady says MB won't rust so easily and suggest I don't need to do anything. She even cleaned off the mark and to my surprise the paint is actually still intact. Wasn't very concerned with the dent actually, will happen sooner or later one lah. All the cars I owned always kenna someone knocking into me, so I have accepted my fate :-\
