Hello Mercphiles,

I'm Jared, I'm an old-school Mercedes fan, currently driving a W201 LHD, since I'm in Manila right now. I used to stay in Singapore back in 2005-2007 but will be visiting Singapore more often to look for Benz parts and by luck, cheaper tuning parts from AMG, Lorinser or Brabus. You can always visit my website to know more about some of the classics we got here and some of the new ones coming. Thanks!

Hello, everyone. My name is Frank Koh, a.k.a. Technophobia. I learned about this great website from my good buddy Jared201, who, like me, is based in the Philippines. I have also been to Singapore on a few occasions, and I truly love your country! Despite the great number of legal restrictions pertaining to ownership and enjoyment of motor vehicles (especially classic cars!) that you fine folks in Singapore have to contend with, I know that your automotive passion remains unbridled... this Forum is living proof that you are dedicated Mercedes-Benz aficionados of the highest order.

I last visited Singapore to participate in the Mercedes-Benz & Me photo story contest media launch held at the Fullerton Hotel on March 1, 2005. I was accompanied by two family members who are "youngtimer" Mercedes-Benz owners, namely my better half (she drives an LHD Japan market 190E 2.6 with a full AMG kit and Loenspeed 16" six-spoke "Evo II"-style alloys) and my mother (at 77 she still enjoys her U.S.-spec W124 300E 2.6 that she bought new sixteen years ago). Because the Mercedes-Benz & Me event centered on worthwhile MB ownership experiences and testimonials, DaimlerChrysler Southeast Asia invited my good friend Manny Dimaculangan and me to represent the Philippines as "brand ambassadors" [a term we consider as a politically-correct synonym for "product endorsers"]. I was one of the speakers during the gig, which was also attended by Frau Jutta Benz, the sole surviving great-granddaughter of Herr Karl Benz. And quite interestingly, DaimlerChrysler even went to the trouble and expense of shipping two of our personal cars to the event, namely Manny's silver 1956 190SL, and my white 1966 230SL. Those who attended the Mercedes-Benz & Me media launch and/or visited the subsequent one-week display of classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles at the Fullerton lobby may recall that the aforestated vehicles were the only LHD rides in the exhibit. In retrospect, we consider that truly marvelous Mercedes-Benz event in Singapore to be one of the high points in our auto enthusiast memoirs. For this, we will always express our heartfelt gratitude to Mercedes-Benz and the Singapore auto enthusiast community.

And now that we have discovered www.sgmerc.com, we can stay in touch with the country, the cars and of course the enthusiasts who we have become very fond of. Allow us to extend our cordial invitation to those sgmerc'ers who want to learn more about us Pinoy classic car enthusiasts, or better yet, plan to visit the Philippines, to contact us. We will be glad to provide some classic automotive entertainment for your sublime enjoyment, Filipino-style!

MABUHAY!

Thank you for the warm welcome, folks! I'm really looking forward to meeting you personally, either in Manila or in Singapore. In the meantime, we'll do our very best to help satisfy your cravings for classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles thru our stories, anecdotes and nuggets of info that we'll share via this Forum. We're so glad to be here!
