Query on Lighting

Recommended Posts

Hi Hi

Realized that the markings (showing auto light, parking light, etc) around the headlight selection dial is not illuminated with orange light although the marker on the dial is lighted at night (see attached photo). I thought it makes no sense for Mercedes to design it this way cos I can't see where the dial position is at in the dark. Similarly the headlight angle just beside is also not illuminated although the indicator is.

I asked the service people at C&C n he say it is like that. Is this true??? Can any kind soul enlighten me on this? Tks in advance!

The whole idea of this is Mercedes-Benz wants the car to work for you, not you do the work. I believe if they can come out with a car that drives itself, they will put it on the road for us.

That light switch is meant to be left at auto (this explains why there is no off switch). If its left at auto, do I still need to see the switch?

Anyway, after you have driven a Mercedes-Benz long enough, you will know the switch position without looking at it. I hardly touch the light switch since day one.

I agree that once the switch is left at auto, don not even need to touch the switch.

I think what Kevin really meant was that since the switch is partly illuminated, why don't light up all the dial indicators as well.

I also recall in those movies, where a car trail another car. When reach those remote dark places, the trailing car will off the headlamp and drive on secretly.

With MB, CANNOT liao !

Turn the switch to parking lights position when your engine is on, all the lights will shut off including those in the instrumental cluster and center console.

There's a reason why it's called "Parking Lights". The parking lights will only turn on when your car is parked, engine off as per your example.

When your engine is on, switching the knob to "Parking Lights" position will equate to you shutting all lights off. Like what Red Devil mentioned, stealth mode.

I still don't understand, when driving, just switch the lights over to "Parking Mode", all lights will turn off. Or is my car system different?
