Help needed: C180 W204 FL door lock

Hi guys!

I'm posing a qns on behalf of my dad who recently got his first C180.

It happened last weekend when my dad was driving and the car door was locked. however, my niece(1.5 year old) who was sitting behind with my mum managed to open the door even when it was locked! i'm aware of the child lock thing, however it wasn't in place at that time, reason being previous car owned (Honda CRV), the door cant be open unless it's unlocked, so we did not use the child lock function.

i would like to ask if this is normal or it should not be this way?

Thanks!

That's normal, it's better to turn the child lock on. When the car is stationary, the door can be opened from inside eventhough the car is locked. Think it's for some safety reason, in case you need to get out of the car due to emergency or something. However, you can't open the door when the car is moving.

Door can be opened even when car is moving. There will be alarm to warn that door is opened. Same goes to the boot, an alarm will be triggered if its opened during car move.
