SASCA/IASCA Singapore 2008 Sound Quality Competition 22nd June

Hello to all I.C.E Enthusiasts,

The SASCA(Singapore Auto Sound Challenge Association) / IASCA(International Auto Sound Challenge Association) Singapore

will be holding it's 1st round of 3 qualifying heats for 2008 Sound Quality Competition (SQC) tomorrow Sunday 22nd June

The competition will have two categories namely:

SQC CLASS 1 - SOUND QUALITY CHALLENGE 1 - 600 WATTS RMS

SQC CLASS 2 - SOUND QUALITY CHALLENGE 601 WATTS RMS and ABOVE

Judging will be based solely on Sound Quality and Judges will be from IASCA Thailand.

Response to the ICE competition has been very good.

For tomorrow 1st heat, all 20 slots for each categeory have been filled.

Competition will be very keen with more than a dozen of the rides featuring

Pioneer & Alpine Flagship HUs/Processors such as ODR (Optical Digital Reference) & Alpine F1. :death:

The top 5 qualifiers of each heat will qualified for the Grand Final to be held later this year in December.

Starting time: 7.00 am

End of Competition & Results will be in the late afternoon.

I will be taking part with my antique ICE system in the <600WRMS categeory. :swduel:

Eh Boss!

My installer wanted my ride to to compete after I sent my car to him recently to change the sub.

How to win when my HU/Processor, Mid/Woofers, Tweeters & 2 amps are >10 years old

compare to the latest tech. of Alpine F1 & Pioneer ODR? Surely die want lah!!! :death:

Furthermore almost all the cars are running 3 ways and mine is only 2 ways cos my

HU/Processor don't runs 3 ways......... :banghead:

Anyway just hope & pray :pray: to stand up for SGMerc....hehehehehe!

Yes! I barely made it to the last 15 for the final this Dec 2008 in the 1W to 600W categeory.

(2 more round of heats before the final to select the next 10 rides)

I went there with a weak mid-bass that I couldn't do much even with the bare min. of cutting up my door panel.

I've now till Dec to work on my midbass. :banghead:

SGMerc continue to fly in IASCA for the time being....hehehehe!

Although 5th place but lost to the champion (S$40,000 system) by a mere 6 points out of 200+ points.

The competitions were definitely close even though my antique lau kor tong ICE system is >11 years old.

Now has to go back to the drawing board(time & money....sigh) to gip the S$KKK system a run for their money in the finals this Dec.

Did you took part in the competition last weekend?

See lah Uncle I never bruff you right your system no doubt old but quality lah. Basket 6 points I think for you to close the gap with some tweaking shouldn't be a problem. :thumbsup:

Hi Leon,

I went in with my eyes open, knowingly that I have a weak mid-bass especially for a 2 way system.

My XES F50 full range 6.5" mid/woofer is very nice to listen to but weak in the mid bass.

The XES F50 mid/woofer has to come out in the final but they are 1.8 ohm drivers which means the XES amp was able to drive them to > 2 x 100WRMS @ 1.8 ohm.

If I will go put in another set of 6.5" mid/woofer, the XES amp can drive them only @ 2 x 50WRMS @ 4 ohm...boh kow lak....sigh.

Anyway I am substituting the XES mid/woofer speakers with another set of my very antique >15 years old 6.5" mid/woofer.

To stay in the <600WRMS categeory, I will have to change amps for the finals.....hehehehe.....we shall see. :pray:

It will still be 2 ways i.e a 2 pairs of Sony >13 years old XES H50 ribbon tweeters, my >15 years old 6.5" mid/woofer and a > 4 years old free air IDMax sub. (The judge comments "Your sub base is real kick ass!)

Looks like I have to break the bank for the amps which are among your favorites....hehehehehe!! :rockon:

2 way always lost out to 3 way system with weak mid bass.

5th means either U go in without a fight :surrender: or have to work much harder. :pray:

My car currently is in the installer place since early this week.

The whole system will be ripped apart and built up again.

I am revamping my ICE for the finals especially in the weak mid-bass area.

A pair of new drivers will be replacing the current ones.

All the current 3 amps have been taken out and 4 new amps will be going in for the 2 way system.

All power cables, RCAs & speakers will be replaced too.

This will probably my last competition...hehehehe :swduel:
