Refuel Indicator

After my indicator lights up, it usually tells me I've roughly 100km range left. You should be able to check your range from the trip computer in the instrument cluster. That being said, it also depends on how heavy footed you are and on road conditions.

One of the dash panel allows us to switch to observe the estimated distance remaining. Can be used as a gauge. Anyways, I just tested last week, after refuel indicator light up, I drove on, there will be a subsequent red colored warning.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

The estimated distance remaining will keep changing depending on the speed you are driving (basing on the actual FC during the remaining fuel left)

i.e the more you cruise and light footed, the remaining distance will increase, while you wack the remaining distance becomes much shorter :)

Bottom line - Look for the next available P Kiosk when you pass one!

Cheers

Other than the refuel warning indicator, the W204 has a very accurate fuel gauge when compared with all my other previous rides. In the latter when the arrow is at E - it means enough, for my W204 it is screaming EMPTY!!!! I wouldn't ever want to test how accurate it is again. :startle:

I'm curious, why not just top up the fuel when the lights come on?

Hah, Is an bad habit tt I pick up frm my previous ride. I noted the refuel indicator for w204 is lited when the pointer is ard 2 dotch below d 3/4 mark. So I wld jus continue to drive until the arrow is near to E to access the distance covered per full tank. For my first tank, distance traveled is ard 680km for abt 60 liters of fuel

This is a very unfathomable behaviour. My vehicle commander has asked me many times why I do not want to top up. I too cannot explain. :)

If she was the one driving, she'd top up once hit half tank.

There is something strangely satisfying (for me) about being able to stretch the limits and push another km outta the remaining fuel.

my Boss more hiong... once I started the car and it tells me I got 15km left to drive... no need say I drive to kiosk first... even when it's not my fav brand...

cars have their fuel pumps inside the tank, which will overheat if the fuel is left too little to cool it down.

bottom line, go fill up the gas when you see the indicator.

Bad idea too cool down hot pump with petrol, sorry to say this is one of dumb thing I ever heard of.

Hot pump --> petrol low boiling point --> vapour--> no cooling --> pump getting hotter --> petrol vapour low ignition point + heat --> KAAAABOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!! so far never see car explode due to low fuel on the tank.

should still be okay to drive. but I personally will use the remaining fuel to travel to the gas station.

my earlier post was actually responding to comments about stretching to the limit.

Thanks for the sharing the link.

I guess there is no logical reason for refusing to pump petrol other than reducing weight on the vehicle.

For me I just think the idea is fun perhaps. But practically, I also guai guai head for kiosk whenever I see the indicator light up.

I had tried once in my W203 for curiosity sake and wouldn't do it again; the stress level is simply too high.

I drove from Sin to KL, had dinner in PJ and stayed in KL for a night then back Sin without refueling. The fuel meter needle was resting at the bottom when I reached 2nd link Shell station.
